不合群的愛普西隆

today I read a report about photo manipulation.
It says that many newspaper used altered photos.
A few decades ago ,people thought 』 the camera doesn’t lie』.
those days are gone, because digital photos can easily be altered today.
So , what is real?

The article says:since the demand for news isn’t gone away ,audiences will slowly shift theirattention
from news photos toward other media , such as blogs and internet.
It means those blogs and independent reporting on the website will carry weights in audiences’ mind.
However , I don’t think so .
Because there is no rules or codes of ethics in internet , people have the same opportunities to expand
their view as well as their bias.
I didn’t like photo manipulation once , but recently I accepted it .
I think many people adjust the color or brightness of the blogs’ photo to emphasize
something they want. There are a lot of atlerd photos in blogs , too .

State of Fear is the lasting offering from Micheal Crickton. This book addresses a real and controversial scientific issue, global warming. He used a lot of footnotes, sited many real papers and reports, and imaginary features (a self-important NGO hyping the science of the global warming, eco-terrorists… ) in the novel. He tended to point out that Climate Change is not a problem, but politicized science is. The novel has inevitablely raised many discussions on the internet and batween the scientists in the field of meteorology. Although it is not my first time learning about this view, I still don’t sure that global warming is true or it is a catastrophe of earth. I am really convinced by author’s insistence, politicized science is dangerous. I trust most scientists have the expience of writing a story,not a report. I mean most of published papers are stories. A story has drama. Unfortunately, the public are always convinced by those papers, which are believed being a truth. I highly recommanded this novel because it will actually teach you something valuable to know, especially for environmentalists.

小瓜是環工所的學妹。

人已經在西藏了。

她一個台灣女生和網路上認識的大陸人今年暑假要騎單車完程兩千多公里的青藏公路。

這條路上最高的唐古拉山，海拔直逼六千。

geee的文章裡提到：

，騎著破舊的單車去追求自己的夢想。之前他要我猜他要去哪騎車時，我隨口說出青康藏

看到geee的文章也是五味雜陳。

不是羨慕或佩服小瓜去闖西藏，是看到自己對旅行的態度改變。

旅行說穿了是一件很簡單的事…現在對我卻愈來愈難。

小時候不顧一切，就是要去旅行，要去看世界。

騎著破車，沒有計畫地前進。

現在愈來愈不能像釣魚人的名言：說走就走 ~~ 帶著隨性不羈的語氣。

生活裡愈來愈多東西掛心，愈來愈多事情要做、要去追。

掛心什麼又追什麼呢？

一切都要按步就班？

不能再去旅行了嗎？

一顆不再旅行的心真的讓我感到害怕~~~

Recently, I was recommended by Eco to read the Thomas Friedman’s best seller, the world is flat, which had send shock waves through our round world. Although it has been sold more than 1.5 million copies and a lot of people raved about it, I still wonder whether he is still the reporter in the invasion of Iraq and the author of the book, From Beirut to Jerusalem. In his flat world book, Friedman used the metaphorical title to catch reader’s attention and to explain his observation about the effects of technology worldwide. He wanted to describe his experience of the internet, outsourcing, offshoring, efficiency supply chain, etc. as the third globalization. He attempted to create a vision which global population views this global landscape, but what he saw is the world flatted by the U.S., the google, and Wal-Mart market. He advocated many new forms of job had boom in the country like India, China, etc., such as phone centers in India, software-designing in China. It seems that Americans face big challenges in globalization, but essentially the U.S. is still the center of the world and others countries just stay around it. Not until the final chapter, he did not mention the most Indians and Chinese still live in poverty. He never mentions the gap between the rich and the poor is widening. Most people on the earth can’t plug and play in his flat world. Looking the world by the American prospective, Friedman’s opinions about globalization is the one most non-global.

It said taht many people bristle at the mere thought of the being googled
because of the photograghs, news clipping ,or BLOG that they feel do not reflect
who they really are. Many people find the images or portraits showed on the internet
are not accurate, even libelous.So, requists for search engines such as google or yahoo to wipe the link to
some website are incresing. People want to delete their past and reinvent theirselves.

I have discussed this problem with FISHERAWHO. the conclusion was that A personal Blog is a good tool to control your persona but a bad protection of your privacy.
Take my blog for example, every body can link to my blog when they search 『愛普西隆』 on yahoo.tw.
There are something good and something bad. If my prospective girlfriend were to encounter the visual me before the real me,
would she want to date me?

這幾週聽了二場樂生系列的座談會，一場是西村幸夫的論談，

另一場的馬來西亞華小保校運動的莊白綺。

也去了兩次街頭。

我覺得這種座談是每一個學工程或科學的人都該去看看或去聽聽的東西。

記得以前上夏鑄九老師的課時，

他說：學工程的人應該把硬邦邦的身體(腦袋)變軟。

是呀… 今天沒有去聽一聽，

或許未來有一天被別人點名當街罵技術官僚的時候還不知是怎麼一回事呢。
